A programmatic SEO page is one page from a set built on a single template, one per city, product, tool or idea. Its job is to answer one narrow search and lead the visitor on to the product. See 27 real examples.

The questions a team asks when it designs a page template for a whole set, answered from the 27 here. Most are single pages; a few are the index pages above them.
One page per thing (a stock, a font, a bank) is the most common shape. One page per place is next.

95% name the exact item in the headline, so the page answers the search it was built for in the first line.

55% carry copy written for the item itself. The rest drop a new name into the same text as every other page of the set.

95% put one in the first screen. The visitor came for one answer, so the ask sits right beside it.

Each is on fewer than one programmatic page in six, with the strongest one that uses it.
15% show the item itself on the page, such as a font set in its own type, instead of only describing it.

10% carry ratings or written reviews from users.

The questions people ask before building a programmatic SEO page, answered from 27 real ones.
The most common is one page per thing, such as a stock, a font or a bank, on about two in five of the pages here. The rest split between one page per place, one per audience and one per idea, with integration pages the rarest.
About half of the single pages carry copy written for the item itself. On close to three in five, more than half of the text is shared with the other pages of the set.
About three in five link back up to the index page, and about three in five link across to similar pages. About one in three show a breadcrumb trail.
Almost all do: all but one of the single pages put one in the first screen. A free trial is the most common ask, on about one in three.
About one in four embed the product's own tool, such as a transfer calculator or a live chart, and about one in four carry a table of facts about the item. Fewer than one in ten show ratings or reviews.
