FAQ

Contact page design, answered

The questions people ask before rebuilding a contact page, answered from 275 real ones.

What should a contact page include?

01

Four things carry most of these pages. 74% offer a route that avoids sales altogether, a trial, pricing, docs or a plain email address. 72% put a real form on the page rather than a link out to one. 67% keep the header stuck to the top of the screen, and 62% keep a pricing link one click away.

How many fields should a contact form have?

02

Most sit between four and eight. Seven fields is the single most common count at 11% of these pages, then eight at 10%, five at 9% and four at 9%. A one-field form appears on 6%, and 5% ask for an email address and nothing else.

What should a contact page say happens after the form?

03

It should say what follows and roughly when, which only 46% of these pages do. It is the widest split in the set: 85% of the strongest 40 pages explain what happens next against 18% of the weakest 40. 18% also print the agenda of the call and 8% say how long it takes.

Should a contact page show a phone number?

04

Only if someone answers it. 24% of these pages show a phone number and 30% show a direct email address, so a form is still the default door. 15% run a chat widget instead, and 2% embed a booking calendar so the visitor picks a slot without waiting for a reply.

What proof belongs on a contact page?

05

A logo wall first. 41% carry one, and it is on 73% of the strongest 40 pages against 20% of the weakest 40. Testimonials are on 22% and a testimonial with a real name attached on 20%. A named or pictured sales rep, the cheapest way to make the call feel human, is on 9%.
